Are collegiate athletes treated differently to uphold a school's brand

My topic has remained the same, that being the subject of student athletes being tried differently than you or I. Upon perusing the net a view terms that seemed useful were "student crimes" "athletic cover ups" and other plays on words. However the main branches of my search have been compromised branding and student athlete crimes. This is a rather wide spread topic being broadcasted all across the US so I've encountered ABC, NBC, CBS, ESPN, a bunch of various news coverage. This link (http://csc.sagepub.com/content/early/2012/05/07/1532708612446431) is a great connection to brand compromise in the "Penn State scandal" which also tied into the cover up of a prestigious school's wrongdoings.

  1. Another big scandal and coer-up occurred with the Duke lacrosse team, as documented in a recent book, "The Price of Silence," reviewed here:

I looked at the book and found it overly long but incredibly detailed -- and a very interesting example for you.
